Welcome to MARG - Mike and Alex's Research Group

MARG is based in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Canterbury and has strong links to the Biomathematics Research Centre. The founding members of MARG are Mike Plank and Alex James and we also have a host of current and former students.

Our group philosophy is to enjoy doing research with fun people and we choose collaborators that live up to our high standards (i.e. they are willing to stand their round in the pub and/or they bring cake to research meetings). Our research is funded from a range of sources including the Marsden fund, Landcare Research and AgResearch. We are always looking to take on students with an interest in applying mathematics to the real world.
