An experimental study of the flow though porous cylinders Abstract: This talk will present some recent experiments conducted at the University of Auckland exploring the behaviour of the flow through a porous cylinder. The cylinders were manufactured using 3D printer technology, allowing us to precisely control both the porosity and the thickness of the cylinder superstructure. Flow visualisation and PIV measurements on the flow have allowed us to identify three different flow regimes. These will be described, together with some possible applications of this work to the aquaculture industry.
