seminarLocation:

This years conference will take place in Kaikoura, a small seaside town on the east coast of New Zealand's South Island.

The Kaikoura website is an excellent source of information on things to see and do during your stay.

There was also a week-long international workshop on Combinatorics and Combinatorial Aspects of Biology being in the North Island of New Zealand in January 2003.

The New Zealand Bioinformatics Conference was held this year at Te Papa, Wellington in February 2003. Our bioinformatics talks will be mon-wed so participants can both meetings if they wish.

The Venue:

The meeting will be held at the Edward Percival Field Station. The Field Station is located on Kaikoura's Esplanade on the waterfront, within walking distance from the town centre.

The teaching laboratory at the Edward Percival Field Station was built primarily to provide accommodation and laboratory facilities for University of Canterbury undergraduate field courses. More info on the Edward Percival Field Station can be obtained from their website.

Programme

Download the program (Word, 32 KB) and abstracts (Word, 75 KB). The evening on Sunday, 9 February, has been set aside for reception and informal discussion.

Talks are to be 15 mins in length - plus up to 5 minutes for questions and/or discussion. The first talk will begin at 8:30am on Monday, 10 February.

The conference will finish at midday Friday, 14 February.

Kaikoura is roughly halfway between Blenheim and Christhurch on State Highway 1. It is approximately 2.5 hours drive from Christchurch and 1.75 hours from Blenheim.

Accomodation

Delegates are to arrange their own accomodation. The Panorama Motel and the Anchor Inn Motel are recommended as they are situated near to the conference venue. Additional accommodation information can be found at the Kaikoura information website

There is also free shared/backpacker style accomodation available for students at the Marine Lab. Spaces are limited and you will need your own sleeping bag.
