It is the pleasure of the organising committee to extend a warm invitation to attend the conference and submit a presentation. The conference is of wide interest with presentations covering any area of statistics and probability.

Young statisticians are particularly encouraged to come and present their work. Prizes are available for the best student presentations sponsored by Hoare Research Software. See the Young Statisticians section for details of a social event after the AGM, sponsored by Statistics New Zealand.

Prof. John Deely is the Statistics New Zealand plenary speaker at the Conference. Further sponsorship has been provided by Official Statistics Research part of the Official Statistics System at Statistics New Zealand, SAS and Crane’s Software for Systat available from Hearne Scientific Software.

Education Sessions

Sessions are set aside for Statistics Education. The talks arranged will be of immediate interest to high school teachers, with the aim of providing material and real data that will be useful in the classroom. A nominal registration fee only is required to attend these sessions.

Conference in Honour of John Deely

The NZSA 2007 conference is followed by a 2 day Conference in Honour of John Deely at the same location, organised by Mik Black from the University of Otago. Prof. John Deely's is the Statistics New Zealand visiting speaker at the NZSA Conference.

Related Event

A half-day workshop on “Bayesian Analysis of Case-Control Data: Studies of Gene-Environment Interaction” is to be held on Tuesday 3 July at VUW, presented by Dr. Bhramar Mukherjee (University of Michigan). The workshop is sponsored by VUW (no fee required). Please register here or contact Ivy Liu (+64-4-4635648) before 26 June, 2007.

The conferences also provide a useful base for those of you who wish to explore more of what Christchurch, the Canterbury region and more generally the South Island of NZ has to offer.
