PortobelloThe 19th annual New Zealand meeting on the interface of mathematics and biology in the study of phylogeny, genome analysis and molecular evolution will be held at Portobello on Otago peninsula. This is a rejuvenated historic village about 30 minutes' drive from downtown Dunedin en route to Taiaroa Head and Otakou marae. Portobello is a convenient location from which to explore all that Otago peninsula - the 'Wildlife Capital of New Zealand' - has to offer. It is home to yellow-eyed penguins, blue penguins and the only human-inhabited mainland colony of royal albatrosses, as well as sea lions and fur seals, to name but a few of the residents. The conference schedule will include visits to local attractions

Registrant numbers will be capped and places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, so prompt registration is advised. Registration is now open; click here.

Payment by credit card can be made at the time of registration or can be made later using the link you receive with your registration confirmation email. All credit card payments are processed securely through the University of Otago's encrypted Credit Card Gateway system. Deadline for final payment, Friday 31 October 2014.

Late registrations may still be accepted for the last remaining places. Email us.

Changes to your registration, eg additional dinner ticket, can be made on request by emailing phylo15@maths.otago.ac.nz. Talk abstracts can be uploaded using the link on your registration confirmation email before Thursday 15 January 2015.

In the event of you having to cancel your registration after payment, please email us immediately. Refunds will generally only be made after the end of the conference for cancellations received before 31 December, and will be subject to an administration fee (normally $50). A partial refund may be possible for cancellations after 1 Jan 2015.

Otago Peninsula is a popular tourist destination all year round, especially so in summer. You are therefore strongly advised to book early. For your convenience, a list of suggested venues is provided here (PDF, 23 KB).

Transport to and from airport:

Portobello is approximately 45km from Dunedin airport and a pre-booked shuttle normally costs approximately $50 one-way. Provided there is sufficient demand, we expect to be able to provide subsidised shuttle transport from the airport to Portobello on Sunday afternoon for those who have booked in advance, and again on Friday afternoon, at a cost of approximately $15-$25 per person, one-way.
